Here is a perfect 2-day itinerary for visiting our sweet hometown of Brevard, NC. We tried to cover everything from playing outside, eating at some of our favorite restaurants, and excellent cultural activities. Make sure to check hours as local establishments tend to change their hours based on the seasons.
Day 1:
Morning:
Start your day with a hearty breakfast at one of Brevard’s cozy cafes, such as Morning Social in the Lumberyard or Bracken Mountain Bakery downtown.
After breakfast, head to Pisgah National Forest for a stop at Looking Glass Falls. This iconic waterfall is easily accessible and offers stunning photo opportunities. Then head up the road a few miles and hit Moore Cove Falls. This is a little more of a hike but you are rewarded with a gorgeous waterfall that you can walk behind (carefully!).
Afternoon:
For lunch, grab a picnic from Smoke On BBQ and enjoy it at one of Pisgah’s many picnic areas.
Afterwards, explore downtown Brevard’s charming shops, like GRAVY, which supports the Boys and Girls Club, and art galleries, like Red Wolf Art Gallery. Don’t miss the Transylvania Heritage Museum to learn about the area’s rich history.
Evening:
Before dinner, enjoy a glass of wine at Wine Down on Main and then walk down to enjoy dinner at one of Brevard’s tasty restaurants like Falls Landing or the Bohemian, where you can savor delicious dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.
After dinner, catch a performance at the Brevard Music Center or enjoy live music at one of the downtown venues like 185 King St.
Day 2:
Morning:
Start your day with breakfast at Cup & Saucer which is located right downtown. They have the best staff, drinks and breakfast that you can even easily take on the go.
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, stopping at overlooks for breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. We particularly like the Devil’s Courthouse pulloff, it’s a short steep hike but it’s amazing views..
Afternoon:
For lunch, head down 215 and grab lunch at one of the food trucks at Headwaters Outfitters and then enjoy a float down the river with one of their trips. Alternatively, you could head back down 276 and grab lunch at one of the food trucks at the Hub and Pisgah Tavern and then go for a bike ride on some of our local trails. We love the Middle Black route.
Evening:
Dine at the Bakehouse, one of our favorites! Really delicious pizzas and salads and pasta!
After dinner, unwind with a beer at one of Brevard’s craft breweries like Ecusta Brewing Company and toast to a wonderful time in Brevard.
This itinerary should give you a taste of the natural beauty, cultural attractions, and culinary delights that Brevard, NC has to offer. There is so much more to enjoy though so hopefully you can stay for longer than just two days! Enjoy your trip!
